| Materials: |
A week's worth of newspapers |
| Activities: |
- Students discuss social issues that are important
to them. Students analyze why some issues are important
to some people and why others do not seem to care.
- Students review the newspaper over a week's time
to identify issues of community concern. The class
selects an issue that there are strong feelings
about. Individuals identify what might be included
in a class letter to the editor and the class composes
a letter to be sent by mail or electronically
