Title: Homemade Tangrams
Contributor: Valerie D. Johnson (Presented at ASCD Classroom Leadership Conference in Orlando, July 1999) Contact Information: vjohnson@fc.fcps.k12.va.us
Materials: One square sheet of paper big enough to tear, approximately 8" by 8"; handout with vocabulary page
Procedure:

Reproduce the handout and give to each student or group. Vocabulary defined on the following pages are presented in all capitals. You might advise students that paper tears more easily after it is creased and dampened with a quick lick. Of course, scissors could be provided for cutting tangrams if you prefer.

After the tangrams are torn, students should reassemble the tangrams into a square. A solution key is provided.
