The student is given a "basic sentence" (e.g., The woman is in the park.) The student is asked to expand on the topic using "descriptive" words (e.g., addressing what the woman is wearing and doing in the park.)

Useful as cooperative group activity, each student adding a word or phrase. Students designate group spokesman to present final work aloud to class.
