Listen carefully. This will keep the interviewer from repeating information and wasting his time. It shows your interest.
Answer questions with complete sentences.
Show respect with "Yes, sir"; "No Sir"; "Yes Ma'am" and "No Ma'am".
Always address the interviewer as Mr. or Ms., unless told otherwise.
Do not fill pauses between sentences with words or sounds such as "and", "uh", "um", or "you know".
Answer all questions. If you refuse to answer one, the employer will believe you have something to hide.
Answer the question as soon as it is asked. A long pause could mean that you are making up a story or have a problem thinking quickly. A short pause to collect your thoughts is fine.
Speak clearly; do not mumble.
Do not argue with the interviewer.
Do not talk about family problems unless asked.
Use no inappropriate language!
Do not speak badly of your past employer or co-workers. You could end up looking like the bad guy.
The tone or sound of your voice should show interest in the job.
Mind your manners by remembering to say "please" and "thank you".
Have two ballpoint pens, two pencils with erasers, and paper for taking notes and completing forms.
Never bring anyone with you. If someone must come along, have him or her wait in the car, not in the building.
Never ask to use the phone. You could appear to have personal or transportation problems.
Tell the truth!
